Lisa Thompson, PhD, is an environmental health scientist and a family nurse practitioner. She is a Professor at the University of California, San Francisco in Family Health Care Nursing. Her research focuses on reducing household air pollutants that contribute to adverse reproductive and pediatric outcomes (low birth weight, preterm birth, child stunting and impaired cognitive development). For two decades, she has focused on household air pollution from solid fuel cookstoves in low-resource countries, beginning in 2002 as a graduate student in the late Dr. Kirk Smith's lab at University of California, Berkeley. She has worked on research projects in Guatemala since 2002. She serves as MPI of ECOLECTIVOS.
Fun fact: Dr. Thompson has a forest of camellia trees in her backyard with over 50 varieties of flowers. Her dog of hers Edith Gray likes to walk in her garden of hers.
